By far the best VPN service. I never thought I would voluntarily pay for a VPN service until I encountered Windscribe. Their free trial is just over-the-top generous, the service works perfectly, the Netflix server locations are super useful and most of all their security bot R.O.B.E.R.T...is something I wish I had my entire life. The app used to be buggy...but since the last upgrade it's perfect...

Windscribe delivers splendid service, whether you want to use the free or paid tier. It's surprisingly effective with content geo-restrictions while also providing robust protection online. Also, the cost isn't prohibitive for those who want access to elite features and better performance...

The previous mac app was an ok, not the best UI or anything exceptional but it would do the job, but this new app is just terrible and a step backward. it feels like you guys convert a windows xp app to macOS. UI is just so ugly and it doesn't follow apple's UI design language.

I have used Windscribe for years, and have been very pleased. It is easy to use, has lots of features, and is reasonably priced. I have used it on both Mac and Windows, and it works well on both.

Hey , guys , how is your experience with Sonoma and Windscribe . For me it is not a smooth experience. Sometimes native apple apps not connecting to internet .

I recommend the beta, the latest stable release is 'secure' tho yes. The beta might actually be more stable I would try both and compare whatever runs better.

Detailed Review

Windscribe is a versatile VPN service available as a desktop application for macOS and as a browser extension. It aims to provide users with online privacy and security by blocking ads and trackers, circumventing censorship, and enabling access to geo-restricted content. Windscribe offers both a free and a paid "Pro" version. The free version is quite generous, offering up to 10GB of data per month and access to servers in multiple countries, making it a popular choice for users seeking basic VPN functionality without cost. Upgrading to the Pro version unlocks unlimited data, access to all server locations, and additional features.

Standout Features

  • Free Plan: Offers a substantial free tier with a monthly data allowance, making it accessible for users with basic VPN needs.
  • Ad and Tracker Blocking: Effectively blocks ads and trackers, enhancing browsing privacy and speed.
  • Geo-Restriction Bypass: Allows users to bypass geographical restrictions and access content from different regions, including streaming services like Netflix (though with some limitations).
  • Firewall (Kill Switch): Includes a built-in firewall that acts as a kill switch, preventing IP address exposure if the VPN connection drops.
  • Multiple Protocols: Supports various VPN protocols, including WireGuard, OpenVPN, and IKEv2, offering flexibility and security.
  • MAC Address Spoofing: A unique feature that hides or rotates the device's MAC address for enhanced anonymity.
  • Split Tunneling: Allows users to choose which apps use the VPN connection and which don't.

Conclusion

Windscribe is a solid VPN option for Mac users, particularly attractive due to its generous free plan and user-friendly interface. It provides a good balance of features for both free and paid users, offering robust privacy and security tools. While the free version has limitations in data and speed, it's a great way to test the service. The Pro version offers excellent value for users needing unlimited data and access to all features. However, users requiring consistently high speeds or those new to VPNs might find the interface slightly complex and may need to explore other options for 24/7 customer support. Overall, Windscribe is a reliable and feature-rich VPN that caters to a wide range of users, from privacy-conscious individuals to those seeking to bypass geo-restrictions.
