The Best Reader App. I love ReadKit. The developer is great and this latest cross-platform version looks better, functions better, and is in every way better than all competing apps, even those from big development teams. Unlike those other apps you will find no ads here and no one is stealing and selling your data.

Great update and still works well with Feedly. I've been using ReadKit for years to access my Feedly account. This new, Apple Silicon-optimized version is snappier and slicker. I'm definitely a fan. And the app does everything I need without my having to pay for the Premium features.

You can get Reeder 5 for a lifetime instead of Readkit for a year…

Detailed Review

ReadKit is a comprehensive reading application for macOS, iPhone, and iPad, designed to consolidate your RSS feeds and read-later services into one streamlined hub. It supports a wide array of services including Feedly, Feedbin, Instapaper, Pocket, and Wallabag, as well as offering a built-in RSS engine. This universal app provides feature parity across macOS and iOS, ensuring a consistent reading experience regardless of the device.

Standout Features

  • All-in-One Reading Hub: Integrates RSS feeds and read-later services, reducing the need for multiple apps.
  • Cross-Platform Universal App: Offers consistent features and service support on both macOS and iOS.
  • Built-in RSS Engine: Functions independently, without requiring a separate RSS service account.
  • Offline Reading: Caches articles and images for offline access, ideal for reading on the go.
  • Reader Mode: Extracts the full content of articles for a cleaner, distraction-free reading experience.
  • Customizable Interface: Supports light and dark modes, themes, and custom app icons for personalization.
  • Smart Folders: Allows creation of smart folders to automatically organize content based on search criteria (Premium Feature).
  • OPML Import/Export: Facilitates easy import and export of feed subscriptions (Premium Feature).

Conclusion

ReadKit is a robust and feature-rich application that caters to users who consume content from various RSS feeds and read-later services. Its clean interface, offline reading capabilities, and universal app design make it a compelling choice for Apple users. While the core functionalities are available for free, ReadKit Premium unlocks advanced features like smart folders and unlimited feeds, offered through a subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase for each platform or a universal license. Users who are heavily invested in the Apple ecosystem and desire a unified reading experience across devices will find ReadKit a valuable tool. However, some users may find the subscription model for premium features less appealing compared to one-time purchase alternatives like Reeder.
