Raycast is my most essential Mac App. ... being able to perform nearly any action without touching the mouse is an absolute game changer for me...Alfred, but I just started using Recast earlier and since then didn't feel the need to switch.

Raycast does much more than launch apps. It slots meetings into my calendar; it plays the tracks of my choice from Spotify without me even having to open the app; it displays my two-factor authentication codes without having to fish my phone from my pocket; it does an unbelievable number of things unbelievably well. And it's free for personal use.

This is like a modern Alfred meets the Apple App store. Easy to use with onboarding that encourages a good setup while you learn. The best part is the Store with lots of community actions connecting to all things new.

I was skeptical, but Raycast proved to be the better version, and Alfred's time may be long gone... While Alfred does offer many themes to choose from, most of them look outdated. The default look of Raycast looks more polished and fresh straight out of the gate.

Raycast does simplify repetitive activities, and give the user a one-stop-shop for many different task they may have.

Raycast feels like a good mac app to me, but Alfred feels more like an extension of Mac OS itself (I prefer the latter).

Often lauded as a superior alternative to macOS's built-in Spotlight, Raycast offers a wide array of features accessible through a fast and intuitive command bar. Beyond basic application launching and file searching, Raycast excels with its extensive ecosystem of extensions, which significantly expand its functionality. These extensions, many of which are community-built, integrate with numerous services and tools, automating tasks and streamlining workflows. While the core application is free and incredibly useful, a Pro subscription unlocks advanced features like AI integration, settings sync across devices, and theme customization.
