Absolutely love pCloud. I really dislike how Apple requires iTunes to load your music on an iPhone. It's clunky and slow. Just let us load music how we want to Apple... Finally a cloud service where I can set the encryption key on certain files/folders so I know that only I have the key to decrypt the files in the event there was a breach.

Best photo and file organizer on the planet. I've been trying to find the best easy to use and sync from my MacBook, iPhone, and desktop file sharing service over the past year! I've tried drop box, one drive, google drive ect. And this one is by far the best one!

After a long search probably the best choice... With pCloud I can directly select the folders to sync, which I personally find very good. The synchronization works absolutely perfectly on multiple Macs and iPads. With the Lifetime Plan, I have made a clear one-time investment, which is very convenient for me. Overall, I am absolutely satisfied with pCloud.

Current version is 3.13.5, but despite the DL page saying macOS 10.11+, the only recent version working on Intel 10.14.6 is the 3.13.4 M1 version! :-o Finder integration stopped working in 3.13.2 or 3.13.3.

Is there a trick to get the pCloud app and pCloud drive to work on an Apple Silicon Mac? I downloaded the app from the pCloud website and followed the instructions, but I cannot get it to work... I finally got it to work... It takes several reboots. It's working on my M1 computer.

Detailed Review

pCloud is a cloud storage service that offers a desktop application for macOS, allowing users to access and manage their files directly from their Mac. It provides a user-friendly interface and integrates with Finder, making it easy to upload, download, sync, and share files. pCloud emphasizes security, offering optional client-side encryption with pCloud Crypto to ensure data privacy. The service is cross-platform, available on Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android, ensuring access to your files from virtually any device.

Standout Features

  • pCloud Drive: Creates a virtual drive on your Mac, allowing you to access cloud files as if they were local, saving local storage space.
  • File Sync and Backup: Automatically sync files between your Mac and the cloud, and backup important folders.
  • File Sharing: Easily share files and folders with others via download and upload links, with options to password protect and set expiration dates.
  • pCloud Crypto (Optional): Client-side encryption add-on that encrypts files on your device before uploading to the cloud, providing zero-knowledge security.
  • Media Streaming: Built-in media players allow streaming audio and video files directly from pCloud.
  • File Versioning: Retains previous versions of files for up to 30 days, allowing for easy recovery of older versions.
  • Cross-platform Accessibility: Access files from Mac, Windows, Linux, iOS, Android, and web browsers.

Conclusion

pCloud for Mac is a solid cloud storage solution that balances ease of use with robust features, particularly in security and file management. The free plan with up to 10 GB of storage is a great starting point, and the paid plans offer competitive pricing, including lifetime subscription options. While some users have reported initial setup challenges on macOS, particularly with Apple Silicon Macs, and some find the encryption as a paid add-on disappointing, overall pCloud is well-regarded for personal and professional use, especially for users who prioritize security and cross-platform accessibility. It's a strong contender in the cloud storage market, offering a comprehensive suite of features for Mac users.
