GIMP is a robust image editing tool comparable to the likes of Photoshop... Full set of features for all the image manipulation I've ever needed... Some things are not as intuitive as I'd like, but it is a complex program with a lot of features, therefore it takes some time to learn where everything is and how to get things done, workflows, etc.
GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) is a robust, free, and open-source image editor available for macOS, Windows, Linux, and other operating systems. It is often cited as a powerful alternative to Adobe Photoshop, offering a wide array of tools for image retouching, composition, and creation. GIMP is highly versatile, serving various users from graphic designers and photographers to illustrators and scientists. It supports numerous file formats, including PSD files, and is extensible with plugins and scripts to further enhance its functionality. While GIMP is free, it provides professional-grade features including layers, masks, filters, color management, and advanced manipulation tools.
GIMP is an excellent choice for Mac users seeking a powerful image editing application without subscription fees. It rivals commercial software in terms of features and capabilities, making it suitable for both beginners and professionals. While its interface can be less intuitive for users accustomed to Photoshop, the vast online resources, tutorials, and active community support learning and effective use. GIMP's open-source nature ensures continuous development and improvement, making it a sustainable and powerful tool for a wide range of image manipulation tasks on macOS.
