Same for me but with windows 11, mine just goes blank for like 30 minutes and then says 'oops discord crashed, we've detected the problem and will fix it' and then goes about doing it over and over again.

Also poor UI not using proper menubar commands. It's an Electron app, that's why.

Detailed Review

Discord is a popular communication platform available on macOS, designed for building communities and connecting with friends. Initially created for gamers, it has expanded to be used by various groups for communication and collaboration. It is a free service, with optional paid Nitro subscriptions that unlock cosmetic and feature enhancements. Discord's core functionality revolves around servers, which can be organized into text and voice channels for different topics or groups. Users can also engage in direct messages and group chats.

Standout Features

  • Versatile Communication: Offers text, voice, and video chat options.
  • Servers and Channels: Organize communities into structured servers with dedicated channels.
  • Screen Sharing: Enables users to share their screens for collaboration or presentations.
  • Bot Integration: Supports community-created bots to automate tasks and add features to servers.
  • Cross-Platform: Available on macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS, Android, and web browsers, ensuring accessibility across devices.
  • Customization: Servers can be highly customized with roles, permissions, and moderation tools.

Conclusion

Discord is a robust and feature-rich communication tool suitable for a wide range of users on macOS, from gamers to professional teams and online communities. Its free nature and extensive functionality make it a compelling choice for group communication. However, as an Electron application, it can be resource-intensive, and some users report occasional performance issues on macOS. New users may also experience a slight learning curve due to the vast array of features. Despite these potential drawbacks, Discord remains a highly-regarded platform for staying connected and building online communities.
