I regret I didn't buying it sooner at 2024, I bought it just now in beginning of 2025, it is the best screen recorder software and top of the line video editor with AI for captions . Love it , thank you.

Camtasia Review: Helps me focus on my actual content! ... Ease of use always!!! Even if I don't use it for awhile when I return to using it there's no huge learning barrier to become productive again.

In my own experience, Camtasia has 99 problems but this ain't one. I'm running Sonoma on an M2 with 16gb (so much less RAM than yours) and haven't experienced this issue.

Detailed Review

Camtasia for Mac is a comprehensive software solution designed for screen recording and video editing. It caters to users who need to create professional-looking videos for various purposes, including tutorials, online courses, presentations, and marketing materials. Camtasia strikes a balance between ease of use and powerful features, making it accessible to both beginners and experienced video creators. The software allows users to capture their screen activity, webcam footage, and audio simultaneously, and then edit these recordings using a timeline-based interface. It offers a rich library of templates, effects, animations, and transitions to enhance videos and make them engaging.

Standout Features

  • Intuitive Screen Recording: Capture full screen, custom regions, or specific applications with ease and high quality.
  • Versatile Video Editing: Drag-and-drop interface simplifies the editing process, allowing for easy arrangement of clips, addition of annotations, captions, and effects.
  • AI-Powered Features: Recent versions include AI-generated captions, text-to-speech, and potentially other AI enhancements to streamline video creation.
  • Extensive Asset Library: Built-in library of royalty-free music, sound effects, and customizable assets to enrich video content.
  • Direct Sharing Options: Easily share videos to platforms like YouTube, Vimeo, and Screencast, or export in various file formats.

Conclusion

Camtasia is a robust and user-friendly tool for Mac users looking to create screen recordings and edit videos. Its comprehensive feature set, ease of use, and professional output quality make it a strong contender in the video creation software market. While it comes at a premium price compared to some alternatives, the one-time purchase option (alongside subscriptions) can be appealing. It is particularly well-suited for educators, trainers, marketers, and anyone needing to create instructional or demonstrational videos. However, users with very advanced editing needs might find it less feature-rich than professional-grade video editing suites like Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere Pro, and those on a tight budget may explore free or cheaper alternatives like OBS Studio or ScreenFlow (though ScreenFlow can also be pricey).
